An elementary component in our modular system is the holistic approach to water. We set innovative standards, establish original cycles and ensure that others will also benefit from this holistically in the future.

We create solutions for the holistic use of water.

The sustainable use and protection of water is of central importance in a world characterized by increasing water scarcity, pollution and a growing awareness of the importance of clean water resources. These developments have a significant impact on our lifestyles and environmental conditions. Our ethics and principles in dealing with water must take these major trends into account and be geared towards shaping a future worth living.

Ethics and principles according to the order of creation

With the growing challenges of overuse and pollution of water resources, it is essential to tackle water pollution from industrial effluents, agricultural chemicals and improper disposal. Strict environmental regulations and the promotion of sustainable water use practices are necessary to protect and improve water quality.

Initiatives to restore and clean polluted waters and renaturalize rivers and lakes are crucial. These measures help to improve water quality and restore natural habitats for numerous aquatic organisms. These include projects to remove pollutants, restore natural river courses and reforest riparian areas.

Technological advances in water management offer immense opportunities for the sustainable use of water resources. By implementing water reuse systems, rainwater harvesting and innovative irrigation techniques, we can use water more efficiently. These sustainable practices help to reduce water consumption and safeguard water resources for future generations.

The increasing focus on health and prosperity requires that measures to protect water resources are intensified. A clean water supply is crucial for the well-being and health of the population. This includes the continuous monitoring of water quality, the protection of drinking water sources and educational programs that raise awareness of the importance of clean water resources. These measures ensure that water resources remain accessible and sustainable for all.

In a world characterized by water scarcity, pollution and a growing awareness of the importance of water, our ethics and principles in dealing with the element of water must be aligned with the challenges and opportunities of these developments. By resisting destructive practices, rebuilding and restoring healthy water ecosystems, promoting sustainable use and recirculation systems, and protecting and conserving water resources, we can create a sustainable and healthy future.

We ensure the reconstruction and restoration of healthy water ecosystems.

An elementary component of arche+ is the holistic approach to water. We offer solutions for rainwater, plant purification systems, plant air conditioning systems and water treatment. We set innovative standards because we learn from creation and thus benefit holistically in the future. We at arche+ find economically viable, low-maintenance and long-lasting solutions! We build aesthetic gardens with ecosystem services.

We ensure the reconstruction and restoration of healthy water ecosystems.

Our goals and visions for the element of water:

What is green, blue, gray and virtual water?

Green water is rainwater that is constantly replenished naturally. Agriculture therefore uses the water sustainably and does not "consume" any water.

Blue water comes from groundwater and surface water, for example water taken from wells or rivers for irrigation or human consumption.

Gray water, on the other hand, is contaminated water and can only be used for other purposes after purification.

The amount of water that is used directly and indirectly for the manufacture of a product is referred to as virtual water. It comprises green, blue and gray water.

PureFlow+

arche+ Revolution: Self-sufficient water treatment for the highest purity requirements

In the face of global challenges such as water scarcity and the need for sustainable resource utilisation, the "PureFlow+" project offers a transformative solution. This self-sufficient water treatment plant makes it possible to obtain water that meets the highest purity standards, even from heavily polluted sources such as ponds and rain barrels. Independent of urban infrastructures, PureFlow ensures a reliable water supply and addresses the urgent needs of remote regions. By utilising advanced filtration technologies and renewable energy, this project sets new standards in sustainable water treatment and makes a significant contribution to improving global water security and health.

Our project is developing a self-sufficient water treatment plant that treats unclean water from ponds and rain barrels to produce very pure water that meets the highest purity requirements. In contrast to conventional systems that have to be connected to municipal water pipes, our system can also produce clean water from significantly poorer sources and is ideal not only for remote areas without a municipal water supply, but also for those who want to become independent of the municipal water supply.

Our long-term vision

The long-term effectiveness and safety of our water treatment system is ensured through continuous research and development as well as strict quality controls. We offer a solution that not only meets current challenges, but is also future-proof. The demand for very pure water, which is required for the preparation of baby food for example, is enormous worldwide and our solution ensures that this demand is met even in areas without an urban water supply.

Aquaponics+

arche+ Solution: Fish and plant breeding in a cycle as a cultivation system

Our aim is to produce healthy and regionally grown food that feeds healthy communities and also generates a surplus to help those in need in a very practical way. Aquaponics stands for the combined rearing of fish and plants in a recirculation system. It is a so-called integrated aquaculture in which the water from fish farming is treated and reused to supply cultivated plants with nutrients. This is an ideal concept for sustainable regional agriculture that is efficient in terms of resources and space and can be integrated into the arche+ cycle in a meaningful way. We plan to combine fish farming with vegetable production to save resources. It is generally known how important fish are for a healthy diet. Fish is one of the most sustainable sources of animal protein.

Multiple synergies between the two forms of farming form the basis of this sustainable and innovative food production. The ammonium excreted by the fish in the water used for aquaculture is converted into nitrate by bacteria in biofilters. As a result, the waste water from the fish tanks can be reused for watering and fertilizing the plants and technically replicates the natural nitrogen cycle. This also eliminates the ecologically problematic over-fertilization of natural waters caused by the unregulated disposal of wastewater from aquaculture.

Our long-term vision

We at arche+ offer solutions for food security at a time when climate change is endangering harvests. Research into sustainable fish feed is already underway. We will work with the research institutions to solve the challenges. From our current perspective, the approaches in which insects are integrated into the cycle in addition to aquaponics are very promising. These are fed with the residues from the plant harvest and are later used as fish feed. This is therefore a logical continuation of the "zero waste" concept, as it allows all waste materials to be passed on as recyclable materials.

Hypocycle+

arche+ Revolution: Regional food production despite water scarcity

Agricultural vegetable production is water-intensive. However, water scarcity is now a global problem that is being exacerbated by advancing climate change. New, water-saving cultivation methods are being sought to ensure the highest possible yields. With the Hypocycle+ research project, we are developing the implementation of an alternative agricultural cultivation method in combination with water reuse on an industrial scale. The Hypocycle+ process is intended to enable regional, water-saving and year-round vegetable cultivation in greenhouses and thus offer an alternative to conventional vegetable production. On the one hand, the Hypocycle+ process offers an alternative to irrigation with drinking water and groundwater. The cultivation method also offers an optimized nutrient supply, as vital nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorus are supplied to the plants from the treated water.

Hydroponic vegetable production is supplied with irrigation water that is obtained in an environmentally friendly way through recycling. Its treatment is based on the latest scientific findings. At the heart of this is a new type of activated carbon biofilter; in order to enable needs-based fertilization, a nutrient management system adapted to the needs of the plants is also implemented, which uses the nutrients present in the source water. Water treatment and plant production are coordinated via a technical unit based on sensor technology and artificial neural networks.

Our long-term vision

Our aim is to introduce this new type of regional vegetable production and also to support it through the development of an overarching quality management system. We not only want to establish this new market segment but also link it to other sectors, both in urban water management and in fruit production, using the real laboratory approach and involving local and regional stakeholders. Finally, as arche+ in the HypoCycle+ project, we ask ourselves the question of the transferability of the accompanied implementation for other locations.
